The RRR song "Naatu Naatu" earned best original song at the Sunday Academy Awards, becoming the first song from an Indian film to do so.

Naatu Naatu, a song from the Telugu blockbuster RRR (Rise Roar Revolt), was the first Indian film music to be nominated for an Oscar.

"RRR" was an overnight sensation with audiences and critics when it debuted in Indian movie theatres last year, and it rapidly became an international phenomenon when it started streaming on Netflix.

The Oscar statuettes were presented to songwriters M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose.

The superhit musical moment Naatu Naatu, which earned an Oscar for Best Original Song in history, took about 19 months to complete.

Success of "Naatu Naatu" goes to the stars who danced to it in RRR (N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan) to Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava (vocalists) and to Prem Rakshith (choreographer).

Other nominees were present at the event including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and frequent nominee Diane Warren.
