Union Budget for 2023–24, Indian Railways gets ₹ 2.40 lakh crore capital outlay

Union Budget for 2023 – 24 includes the greatest capital spending ₹2.40 lakh crore for the Indian Railways, earlier yearly capital spending for Railways was only about ₹45,980 crore until 2014. But several projects are currently underway all around the nation. This will be the last full Budget of the Narendra Modi 2.0 government.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said how the railways intended to use the cash after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday presented the Union Budget for 2023.

Ashwini Vaishnaw also said that this union budget will meet passengers’ expectations. The “Amrit Bharat Station” programe is remodeling that 1,275 stations are being re-developed, while production of Vande Bharat trains will be revamped.

To fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream to connect the country with Vande Bharat Express trains, in addition to ICF Chennai these trains will now also be manufactured in Sonipat, Haryana, and Latur, Maharashtra, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw added.

By August 2023, Indian Railways plans to launch 75 Vande Bharat trains. Meanwhile, it is expected that the contract for the manufacture of 200 more Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be allocated soon.

Also Shatabdi Express trains are gradually being replaced by Vande Bharat Expres chair car services. The premium Rajdhani Express trains will be replaced with the Vande Bharat Express sleeper variants.
