Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga Templealso known as Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple or Srisailam Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the temple situated on the bank of Krishna River at Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh. Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India and also one of the eighteen Shakti Peethas of Parvati.
Significance of Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga Temple
Mallikarjuna which means “Lord of Jasmine” and the shrine of Parvati is called Bhramaramba, which means “Bee Goddess”. The temple is believed to be very ancient and has been visited by many saints and rulers. It is also a sacred place for both Shaivism and Shaktism sects of Hinduism. The temple premises covers many shrines, halls and towers in total area of two hectares.
