COVID-19 cases in India climbed to 13,387 (active cases 11201) in India including 437 fatalities due to the disease, while 1748 cases are cured/discharged and 1 migrated according to the health ministry figures released on Friday morning.
Maharashtra is the worst affected state with 3,205 cases and 194 deaths, Delhi (1640 cases and 38 deaths), Tamil Nadu (1267 and 15 deaths), Rajasthan (1131 cases and 3 deaths), Madhya Pradesh (1120 and 53 deaths).
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Thursday said India received the much-awaited Rapid Testing Kits from China which use antibody-based blood tests for COVID-19. The consignment of 500,000 antibody testing kits and 100,000 RNA extraction kits arrived on Thursday. a total of 3.02 lakh samples from 2.86 lakh individuals have been tested so far for COVID-19 cases in India.
Globally, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has risen above 21.57 lakh while death toll gone up to 1.44 lakh, United State remains the worst affected country in the world with 6.7 lakh confirmed cases with more than 33,000 deaths, followed by Spain (184,948 cases and 19,315 deaths) Italy (168,941 cases and 22,170 deaths), France (147,091 cases and 17,941 deaths) and the UK (104,146 cases and 13,759 deaths) according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
