Padma Awards 2023 Winners List Announced by Indian Government

Padma Awards 2023 winners list has been released by the Government of Indian. The Padma Awards strive to “recognize achievements in all spheres of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved,” and are India’s second-highest civilian accolade after the Bharat Ratna. At formal events held at Rashtrapati Bhawan often in March or April each year, the President of India presents these Awards.

106 Padma Awards 2023 Winners which have been approved by the President of India. There are six Padma Vibhushans, nine Padma Bhushans, and 91 Padma Shri awards on the list. Nineteen of the awardees are women, and seven were honored posthumously.

There will be nine recipients of the Padma Bhushan, including Deepak Dhar, Kumar Mangalam Birla, and Sudha Murthy. The prizes are granted in a variety of professions or spheres of endeavor, including the arts, social work, politics, science, engineering, business, medical, literature and education, sports, and civil service.

Some of the notable individuals who will receive the Padma awards include former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Late Mulayam Singh Yadav (posthumous), former chief minister of Karnataka Late SM Krishna, architect Balkrishna Doshi, music director and Golden Globe winner MM Keeravani, tabla master Zakir Hussain, renowned investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala (posthumous), and the father of oral rehydration solution (ORS), Dilip Mahalan

History of Padma Awards
India’s highest civilian honours, the Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan, were first established in 1954. Pahela Varg (1st Class), Dusra Varg (Second Class) and Tisra Varg (Third Class)  The names of these awards were changed to Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri in 1955.
These civilian awards are generally announced every year on January 26 on the occasions of the Indian Republic Day, and the awards given for distinguished and exceptional achievement/services in all field/disciplines such as social work, public affair, social work, civil service, art, education, sports, literature and education, medicine, science and engineering, trade and industry and etc.
