Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed with state chief ministers about India’s lockdown on Saturday, Hinting at a decentralized strategy ahead, that may involve dividing areas into green, orange and red zones. He had earlier made it clear that lockdown cannot be lifted across the country in one go
PM Modi also said that ‘Jaan and Jahaan‘ both will be taken care of while stressing upon coordinated efforts to fight the pandemic. During the video conference with PM Modi, several chief ministers including Punjab’s Amarinder Singh Madhya Pradesh’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal had suggested extending the lockdown at least by a fortnight.
Todays’s meeting with the state Chief Ministers through video conferencing, Modi said while people can’t be kept away from work for a long time, life has got priority over the economy, PM also suggested the idea of a lock-in wherein industrial, agricultural and construction workers may be housed within their work zones itself and continue with their work.
