Manohar International Airport in Goa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the greenfield airport at Mopa in Goa on Sunday which is located 50 km apart from the south Goa. It is expected to handle 44 lakh passengers per annum. However the flight operations from the new airport will start from 5th January 2022, a senior official said.
Two of the International airports are located in two different districts now, the exiting airport is located in Dabolim district and the new airport in Mopa districts. The foundation stone of this airport was laid in November 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The new airport to be named Manohar International Airport after the late Manohar Parrikar a veteran BJP leader who was served as Goa Chief Minister and Union Defence Minister. He passed away at the age of 63 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer in 2019. The first phase of the new airport of ₹2870.00 Crore projects on 2312 acres by GMR was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday evening.
The Manohar International Airport in Goa will boost Goa’s economy and provide a great experience for tourists. It is also a tribute to Manohar Parrikar Ji’s efforts for Goa’s progress. Prime Minister tweeted.
Manohar International Airport has been built on the theme of sustainable infrastructure including a solar plant green buildings, also this airport has state of the art sewage treatment plant with recycling facilities, rain water harvesting, LED lights on the runway and much more facilities added.
Official said that Indigo Airlines will operate 168 flights weekly (12 flights daily) connecting to 8 cities across the country while Go First Airlines will operate 42 flights weekly connecting to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad from Mopa International Airport.
