Coronavirus latest: India’s Covid-19 count crossed 60,000, death toll over 2,000

Coronavirus Latest Updates: Coronavirus cases in the country at 62,939 marks, including 2,109 deaths. While the number of active cases stood at 41,472, as many as 19,358 persons have recovered so far. The state of Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected with 20,228 cases and 779 deaths, followed by Gujarat 7,796 cases, Delhi 6,542, and Tamil Nadu 6,535 cases according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

 

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has decided to rush Central teams to 10 COVID-19 hit states include Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal. Which are witnessing high caseload and spurt in numbers. The teams will support the state health departments in the implementation of containment measures in the affected areas, districts, and cities.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in a statement Saturday announced its partnership with Bharat Biotech International Limited to develop a fully indigenous vaccine for coronavirus at ICMR’s National Institute of Virology, Pune, the body said in a statement.

Globally the number of coronavirus cases approached 3,916,338 with over 2,70,711 deaths. The US has recorded the most fatalities at 80,040, followed by the United Kingdom (31,587) and Italy (30,395) according to CoronaTracker data.
